Sometimes the stars align just right.
On Juneteenth, we had the incredible honor of performing as part of the Music in Nature series at the beautiful Grange Insurance Audubon Center. Surrounded by towering trees, birdsong, and a community gathered with open hearts, we were reminded that music has a wonderful way of bringing people together.
There's something magical about making music outdoors. The breeze becomes part of the rhythm, the leaves dance along with the melodies, and for a little while, everyone shares the same soundtrack. It really is easy being green when you're surrounded by so much life and beauty.
But this evening was about more than just a concert.
Celebrating on Juneteenth gave the gathering an even deeper meaning. It was a chance to honor resilience, celebrate liberation, and recognize that the journey toward freedom continues through community, creativity, compassion, and hope. We were humbled to add our voices to a day dedicated to remembrance, joy, and the promise of a brighter future.
To everyone who came out, sang along, danced, smiled, or simply soaked in the evening with us—thank you. Your energy filled the garden, the trails, and our hearts. These are the moments we'll carry with us long after the last note has faded.
A heartfelt thank you to the Grange Insurance Audubon Center for inviting us to be part of such a meaningful event and for creating a space where nature, music, and community come together so beautifully.
As we packed up our instruments under the evening sky, we couldn't help but think that these are the nights that remind us why we do what we do.
Here's to more music, more community, more joy, and more reasons to follow your stars.
Until next time...
